General Terms and Conditions of the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin

The General Terms and Conditions apply to all events organised and/or hosted by the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin. If different arrangements are made for individual programmes, these deviating provisions will apply.
1. Open courses offered by the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin
Educational events offered by the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin are open to everyone interested, provided no restrictions on participation are set in place for the respective programme.
The Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin provides the following services:
The right of use of the conference documentation applies only in connection with the respective event. Any further use or reproduction is authorised only after consulting the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin and obtaining its permission.
The Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin has the right to cancel an event and withdraw from the contract, if the minimum number of participants is not reached or the event is made impossible, e.g. because a speaker necessary for the event’s success cancels his attendance or the planned rooms are not available. The Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin reserves the right to change the agenda even at short notice, e.g. by offering a suitable replacement for a speaker who is prevented from taking part or by changing the time schedule.
Should the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin cancel an event in total, it will refund attendance fees that have already been paid. Further compensation is excluded.
To register for one of our events, please use the printed registration form in the invitation or register online via our internet offer. Your registration should reach us not later than a week before the event. If the invitation states a different deadline, this deadline will prevail.
You will receive a confirmation of your registration once we have received your registration. By confirming your registration, a legally binding contract has been entered into. If an event is already fully booked, you will get a cancellation in written or text form (letter, fax, e-mail).
In individual cases, there will be no confirmation. This will be explicitly mentioned.
Temporary participation in an event does not entitle you to reduce the respective conference fee and booked services. This also applies to meals you do not consume.
If the participant does not use individual services owing to late arrival or early departure or for another reason not to be accounted for by the Evangelischen Akademie zu Berlin partial reimbursement will not be possible.
3. Cancellation by the participant
It is possible to cancel (withdraw from) your participation in written or text form (letter, fax, e-mail). The cancellation/withdrawal will be effective upon arrival at the Evangelischen Akademie zu Berlin.
For the European Bible Days, the following regulation applies:
The reference for calculating the cancellation fee is the conference fee stated in the respective programme of the event and the services for accommodation and meals you booked.
If other cancellation periods are mentioned in the invitation to the conference, these will apply.
4. Payment of the participation fees
Payment of the participation fees is due at the beginning of the event, unless stated otherwise. In individual cases, you will be sent an invoice for the participation fee. The due date is stated on the invoice.
Accommodation will be offered in the room categories as described in the programme flyer. If your request for a room in the conference venue or hotels we rent cannot be fulfilled we book alternative accommodation for you and let you know before your arrival. House rules of the respective conference venue or hotel will apply.
Pets are not allowed with the exception of companion dogs for disabled people. The dog’s owner is liable for any damage cause by the companion dog. Please, inform us about a companion dog you bring along when you register for the event.
7. Liability of the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin
The Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin can only be held liable for wilful intent and gross negligence.
It is not liable for claims against third parties. This applies in particular, if the Academy has only acted as an intermediary.
It is not liable for any damage, loss, theft of personal belongings brought along or valuables of the participants.
Objects left behind will only be forwarded upon request by the participant and at his risk. The Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin is obliged to keep those items for a period of six months.
8. Liability of the participant
The participant is liable for damages of buildings and inventory he causes in accordance with general regulations under civil law.
9. Limitation period
Claims by the participant vis-à-vis the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin, irrespective of their legal grounds, have a limitation period of one year starting on the date the event ends according to the contract.
10. Data privacy
Participants’ personal data are diligently protected by the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin in accordance with the guidelines for data privacy by the Evangelical Church in Germany. You will find more detailed information in our data privacy statement at
Our events are completely or partially audiovisually recorded. With your participation, you implicitly consent to the audiovisual material be used for documentary purposes as well as in the framework of the press and public relations work of the Evangelische Akademie zu Berlin.
Al information on dates, prices, services and programmes are valid at the time of printing. We expressly reserve the right to make changes. Agreements are valid in writing only. No liability is accepted for printing errors. Should one of the aforementioned provisions be void, the remaining provisions, though, remain in full force and effect.

13. Information pursuant to the Act on consumer dispute resolution (Verbraucherstreitbeilegungsgesetz)
Mandatory information in accordance with section 36 VSBG: We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in procedures on dispute resolution before a consumer arbitration board.
